Scaffolding can be classified according to its use into: operational scaffolding (such as for masonry and decoration), protective scaffolding, and load-bearing and supporting scaffolding (such as formwork scaffolding); according to the materials used, it can be divided into wood, bamboo, and metal scaffolding, with various types of metal scaffolding being widely used; according to its structural form, it can be divided into multi-post type, portal type, bridge type, suspended type, cantilever type, lifting type, and tool-type scaffolding used for inter-floor operations; according to its erection location, it can be divided into external scaffolding and internal scaffolding; and according to its support method, it can be divided into ground-supported and cantilevered scaffolding.
